Existence Precedes Essence; A transformation from paper news to e-paper news review

It is been long time newspaper to be an information and news provider consumed by society; Newspaper has been being popular among society. We can buy newspaper easily in shop, store, or other place. In fact, there are many newspaper publishers such as Kompas, JawaPos, Suara Merdeka, Kedaulatan Rakyat, Tempo, Time, The Jakarta Post, etc. It could be a sign that our societies need much information and those publishers provide a various number of news. But, the latest phenomena, the popularity of the internet rises dramatically. We have already known that the internet also provides information and news. In the other word, I believe the rising popularity of the internet will take over newspaper popularity in not too distant future. I support my statement with these reasons: news substance orientation and mobility.

First of all, It is often claimed when we read some news, all of we need is its substance –information, knowledge, announcement, etc. News media whether paper or e-paper (one of news formats in internet) is just an equipment to deliver the news. With the rising popularity of the internet, I believe people prefer choose e-paper to newspaper.

Secondly, nowadays, the mobile of the device is under consideration. It is common that e-paper easily accessed. We can access it from mobile phone, i-pod, laptop, i-pad, etc. Otherwise, newspaper is less mobile than e-paper. For example, when I go riding public transportation such as train, I prefer access The Jakarta Post using my mobile phone because it has small size, but I can enjoy the news as well as read it in news paper format which has large enough size. Thus, a mobile thing must be useful.

In summary, internet era which is full of mobility is inevetably. Soon, Information and news through internet will take over newspaper edition/format because people realize that all they need is the essence -news and information- in whatever its format –whether paper or digital format.
